About Techno-Katt

I am a doctoral student in rhetoric who uses technology in my classes on a regular basis. This venture is a bit off the track for me–both my B.A. and my M.A. are in English Literature with an emphasis on Modern British writers. I wrote my thesis on Virginia Woolf, so you can see just how far I have steered from my roots.

I have a year left on my coursework and I’m already planning out my dissertation topic. The plan is to write on the use of collaborative Web 2.0 tools (specifically blogs, wikis, and social bookmarks) as aids to First Year Composition instruction. I am currently teaching First Year Composition, but I wear a lot more hats than that. I sit on the university’s Academic Integrity committee and I am beginning a new role as Technology Teacher to the Graduate Teaching Assistants in my department. I figure I’ve spent enough time playing tech support and it’s time they learned to conquer these things on their own.

While I do not have a website that doesn’t focus on my students’ work (isn’t that a scary thought), I am planning to undertake that task this summer if all goes well.

Enjoy the blog!
